Should You See a Chiropractor After a Car Accident?

Chiropractic Care After an Accident

Seeking chiropractic treatment following a car accident can be extremely beneficial. For one, a chiropractor is able to identify injuries sustained during the accident. This helps create documentation which you may need during a settlement hearing. So, for the sake of getting paid what you’re owed, you should definitely see a chiropractor following a car accident.
Insurance/settlement claims aside, seeing a chiropractor after an accident comes with health benefits as well. Not only can a chiropractor help your body heal more quickly from an injury, but they can also help prevent irreversible damage that could be caused when by an injury going untreated. This is especially true with spinal injuries sustained during the accident.

Other Benefits of Seeing a Chiropractor After a Car Accident

Did you know that a minor fender bender can cause structural damage to your vehicle’s frame? The accident may have seemed inconsequential but you find out months down the accident was much more serious when you begin to have problems with your car. The same thing applies to your body after an accident. Even a small or minor accident can cause serious trauma to your nervous system and spinal column. You may not even notice until months down the road when you begin to experience minor aches and pains.
A chiropractor can identify any internal injuries to your spine or nervous system that may otherwise go unnoticed. Catching these injuries early on can help prevent further, potentially irreparable, damage to your body.
Chiropractors can also help you heal more quickly from many of the injuries that are common in car accidents. Whiplash, for instance, is very common in car accidents and can cause headaches, back pain, and discomfort or pain in the neck area. This type of injury is most effectively treated through chiropractic care.
Since chiropractic care is non-invasive and non-addictive it is a safer and healthier alternative to pain meds. It’s also preferable to surgery for most individuals, where applicable.

I like how you said that chiropractic care can help you heal more quickly from the back or neck pain caused by whiplash. My younger brother was in a car accident last night and experienced bad whiplash. He now has a lot of back pain, so I will suggest that he visit a chiropractor that specializes in car accident injuries.
