Low Back Pain

Low Back Pain Relief – Wichita, KS

Do you suffer from low back pain and live in the Wichita, KS area? We can help!

Low back pain affects 80% of people at some point during their lives and is the number one cause of missed days from work. But this doesn’t have to be! The fact that low back pain is still such a big issue in our healthcare system shows that the way we’ve been treating it up until now isn’t working!

Our office has been helping patients with low back pain find relief since 2011. Many of those people had tried everything to treat their low back pain, and had lost hope of ever getting out of pain.

Chiropractic has been shown to be safe and effective at treating low back pain. The evidence has become so overwhelming that the American College of Physicians recommended in a recent press release that people with low back pain try spinal manipulation (AKA chiropractic care) BEFORE taking any kind of medication. With the increasing evidence for chiropractic and the risks of opiods becoming more apparent, your first stop if you are experiencing pain should be to a chiropractor!

The Cause of Low Back Pain

There are a lot of reasons that people suffer from low back pain. Low back pain can be caused from something simple such as repetitively bending, lifting, or twisting, or it can be from something more severe. But don’t worry. Over 90% of low back pain cases are mechanical in nature. This means that most people are experiencing pain because of restricted joints in the low back or because of a minor misalignment of the bones of the lumbar spine (called vertebrae).  Restriction or misalignment of the joints of the lumbar spine can lead to stiffness, muscle tension, and inflammation. This inflammation can irritate the nerves that exit the spine and lead from the low back down to the legs and feet.

It is very common for low back pain to radiate into the buttock, groin, and front and back of the thigh. Sometimes, it may even radiate all the way down to the feet and toes. This is a condition called Sciatica which is when the sciatic nerve gets irritated by some issue in the lumbar spine or pelvis. While pain past the knee commonly will take longer to treat, our patients often still get great results with the care we provide in our office.

Low back pain can lead to missed days from work, missed time with your family, and can also affect your ability to partake in activities that you enjoy. While medication may help treat the symptom of low back pain, it does nothing to address the cause. As we restore proper alignment and motion to the joints of the spine, our patients often notice a decrease in their pain, an increase in their mobility, and they are able to get back to doing the things that they love much sooner.

We would love to see if we can help you get the relief you deserve. When you come in for your first appointment, you will have a consultation and exam with Dr. Stanley that is specifically designed to discover the cause of your low back pain. If we can help, we will recommend a safe and effective treatment plan designed specifically for your unique situation.
