The Cause of Headaches

There are many reasons why people get headaches. Headaches may be caused by something as simple as being dehydrated, or by something more serious such as a tumor or an aneurysm. But don’t worry. For the vast majority of people, their headaches are not caused by something that is life-threatening.

Regardless of the type of headache you have, there often isn’t one single cause. Most headaches are caused by a combination of things, and the reason that treatments you have tried have failed thus far is likely because the cause of the headache hasn’t been found.

Most people who suffer from headaches don’t realize how big of a role their cervical spine (neck) has to do with their headache issues. Muscle tension, poor posture, and restrictions in the joints of the neck are HUGE contributors to headaches for most people. Inflammation around the joints of the neck can irritate the nerves that lead from the neck to the back of the head and cause headaches. If you notice tension in the muscles of your neck during your headache, your neck is likely a main contributor to your pain.
